The chief thing you are seeking in this world is happiness; and happiness does not depend upon good health or money or fame, though good health is a large factor. It depends, however, principally on one thing only; your thoughts. If you can’t have what you want, be grateful for what you have. Keep thinking constantly of all the big things you have to be thankful for instead of complaining about the little things that annoy you.

The Builders

Whether you like Donald J. Trump or not, he is a builder and always will be. Here is a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that I came across this afternoon. Perfect tribute on Election Day to Donald J. Trump, the man who will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

The Builders

All are architects of Fate,

Working in these walls of Time;

Some with massive deeds and great,

Some with ornaments of rhyme.

Nothing useless is, or low;

Each thing in its place is best;

And what seems but idle show

Strengthens and supports the rest.

For the structure that we raise,

Time is with materials filled;

Our todays and yesterdays

Are the blocks with which we build.

Truly shape and fashion these;

Leave no yawning gaps between.

Think not, because no man sees,

Such things will remain unseen.

In the elder days of Art,

Builders wrought with greatest care

Each minute and unseen part;

For the gods see everywhere.

Let us do our work as well,

Both the unseen and the seen;

Make the house, where gods may dwell,

Beautiful, entire, and clean.

Else our lives are incomplete,

Standing in these walls of time,

Broken stairways, where the feet

Stumble as they seek to climb.

Build today, then, strong and sure,

With a firm and ample base;

And ascending and secure

Shall tomorrow find its place.

Thus alone can we attain

To those turrets, where the eye

Sees the world as one vast plain

And one boundless reach of sky.

Until next time. Stop and smell the roses.

Final Report on my 12-week Challenge

Here is my 12th and final report for my twelve weeks challenge:

1. I made my reading goal for my 12-week challenge. I finished two books this week which means I’m also on track with my Books To Read in 2016 Challenge for Goodreads.

2. However, I did not make my marketing goal of 70 items this week. I only make 34 marketing promotions this week. But I did something important this week. I redesigned my website. I like the new design. Take a look at www.rosalindarmorgan.com and tell me what you think. My Giveaways post on Goodreads have 768 total so far, a gain of 414 entries this week alone. “To Read List” has 308 entries to date, a gain of 172 entries this week alone. The Goodreads Giveaways end tomorrow, Nov. 3 at 11:59 pm. Enter to win one of three signed copies of The Wentworth Legacy.

3. I did not make my word count challenge. I tried but I finished the challenge at 48,506 words. I’m happy I made it this far. But yesterday I decided to do the NaNoWriMo, the National November Writing Month challenge. I have done it the last three years and was able to publish two of my NaNoWriMo novels, The Iron Butterfly published in 2015 and The Wentworth Legacy published in 2016. All are available at www.amazon.com.

Until next time. Stop and smell the roses.

My 11th report for my 12-week challenge

I’m getting near the end of the challenge. One more week to go. Here is what I did during the 11th week of the challenge:

  1. I finished one book this week and I’m still one book behind on my book-to-read goal. I started another book today and I have to finish reading these two books next week to end my reading goal for my 12-week challenge.
  2. I did not make my marketing goal of 70 items this week. I only make 56 total this week. The Giveaways post on Goodreads have 354 total so far, a gain of 30 entries this week. “To Read List” has 136 entries to date, a gain of 12 entries this week. I’m been posting too much on social media the last 10 weeks. It might be construed as hard-core spamming so I have to tone it down a bit for one week. Next week, I have to do it again in earnest since my Goodreads Giveaways are ending on Nov. 2.

3. I’m still trying to catch up on my word count challenge. I’m only at 44,355 words. I only have a week to catch up. This will be a tough order but I just keep on plugging along. My mind has been preparing for the NANOWRIMO in November so I’m not concentrating on this one. We’ll see what happens next week.

My tenth report for my 12-week challenge

Here is my 10th report on my 12-week challenge:

  • I’m one book behind on my book-to-read goal although I started another book to read. Right now, I am reading two books simultaneously. I have to finish reading 3 books in 2 weeks to make my reading goal for my 12-week challenge. This is a big challenge since I don’t do speed reading.
  • I exceeded my marketing goal of 70 items this week. The Giveaways post on Goodreads have 324 total so far. “To Read List” has 124 entries to date.

Motivational Monday – October 10, 2016

We can all endure disaster and tragedy, and triumph over them – if we have to. We may not think we can, but we have surprisingly strong inner resources that will see us through if we will only make use of them. We are stronger than we think.

My 9th report for my 12-week challenge

Here is my ninth report for my twelve weeks challenge:

  1. My book to read goal is still on target. I finish one book this week. I have to finish reading 3 more books in 3 weeks to make my reading goal for my 12-week challenge.
  2. I did not make my marketing goals this week. With Hurricane Matthew on the way to Charleston, I was busy preparing the house for the hurricane. That was the most important thing this week. With all the flooding in the Charleston area, we were very lucky we did not get flood in our area. We lost power for 29 ½ hours so it was not so bad. Water was on all this time.

I reached up to some friends from the groups that I belong to and asked to share my posts. I received two great feedbacks from people who bought my books. They love the book! The Giveaways post on Goodreads have 316 total so far. “To Read List” has 121 entries.
